I am a medical doctor and postdoctoral researcher at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, specializing in neurology. I studied medicine at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, driven by a fascination with the brain complex circuits. My current research focuses on medullary serotonergic neuron subtypes and their role in respiration during sleep in transgenic mouse models. Everyday, I utilize my versatile skill set in my project aiming to understand and mitigate sleep apnea, a condition affecting nearly a billion people globally. My work seeks to uncover the physiological and pathological mechanisms behind the disease, with the goal of identifying potential therapeutic targets for sleep-disordered breathing.
I find medical research both exciting and rewarding, just like solving a mystery, with the ultimate goal of improving human health.
In addition to my scientific pursuits, I am passionate about visual arts. I enjoy painting, often integrating medical concepts into my surreal artworks, using watercolor and digital illustration as my preferred mediums.
